11 We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized. 12 We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.
Do you want the inheritance God has for you? Is your hope in that future? Here in Hebrews He tells you what He expects. God wants you to be consistent, to be committed, don’t waver in your hope in the Lord. Do not become lazy. God knows that following Him takes work. The work of a caregiver, that He has called you to be, can’t be done just when you feel like it. Someone else is relying on you.
God also recognized that you can get off track if you think you are alone. If you think no one has had to do what you are having to do you may be discouraged. You may lose the enthusiasm you started out with. But, the Bible says there were and are people like you. They kept their hope in the Lord. They were committed by faith and patience. From Biblical examples right up to now there are people who have paved a way for you. They are examples to follow so you don’t have to figure out how to persevere on your own.
Right now you may be paving the way for someone else. It is important to be an example of a caregiver to other caregivers. You show them that they are not alone. You are at it everyday just like they are. And, you carry on with faith and patience. This is one way knowledge and wisdom are passed from generation to generation. You share what you have learned.
Lord Jesus, thank You for being the Word of life giving directions for living life. Lord I become impatient and want to give up. Please gift me as You did Noah. He saved his family just as he saved Your creation, all in faith and obedience. He had patience for Your plan. May I keep my hope in You. I ask this in Your name, amen.
