James 4:14

14  Whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow.  For what is your life?  It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.  (NKJV)

You never know when your loved one will pass away.  You don’t know where you will be tomorrow.  That makes it so important to be together.  That means truly being with them in the moment.  It is everyday life that can seem to get in the way.

When was the last time someone asked you to spend some time with them?  How did you respond?  As people age they want time to stop slipping away.  In the mind there is the illusion that time speeds up.  The reality sinks in that everyone is like mist and will vanish.

When at my parents, or my in-laws, they always walked us to the door after a visit.  The same conversations were voiced.  “Do you have to leave so soon?”  “When will we see you again?”  Sometimes it was a specific invitation.  “Do you want to go to the flea market this Saturday?”  I wish I had thought more carefully before I answered those questions.  My everyday life got in the way too often.

The Bible says we should walk together in love, as Christ loved us.  Try to make good, loving decisions about how to spend your time.  Everyday life happens, but it does not have to get in the way of relationships.

Prayer time

Lord I thank you for such amazing love that You gave Yourself up for me.  I pray You would guide me to have the balance in my life that best demonstrates Your love.  In Your name I pray, amen.
